Change, like wind

Change, like the wind
Like the water, like skin

This evokes Blowin’ in the Wind for me, winds of change etc. the classic metaphor of grand scale optimism. Then it’s made visual: wind on water, I see the ripples, the water being acted upon by ceaseless motion that is ultimately reflective of the passing of time. Then it’s made personal: the ripples in my own skin, ultimately reflective of the passing of time. The next line could have been about sagging glass, the poetic myth of glass being an extremely slow liquid losing its shape over the centuries, like the stained glass in cathedrals looks like weeping.
